Efya, Sarkodie nominated for Nigerian Entertainment Awards

Some Ghanaian artists have earned nominations at this year’s Nigerian Entertainment Awards (NEA) scheduled for Sunday, September 4, 2016 in New York City.

They are Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Bisa Kdei, Efya, MzVee and Shatta Wale for the music categories and Abraham Attah, Yvonne Okoro, Van Vicker, Majid Michel, Henry Adofo, Chris Attoh, Nuong Faalong, Ama K. Abebrese, and Nana Mensah for the movies categories.

Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy and Bisa Kdei are competing for the African Male Artist (Non Nigerian/Africa) award. 

They will come up against the likes of FA from Liberia, Sauti Sol (Kenya), Deng (Liberia), Papa Denis (Kenya) and Eric Geso (Liberia).

For the African Female Artist (Non Nigerian/ Africa) category, Ghana’s Efya and MzVee are competing with Vannessa Mdee (Tanzania), Lira (South Africa), Sheebah Ndiwanjawulo (Uganda), Victoria Kimani (Kenya) and Knowless Butera (Rwanda).

Ama K. Abebrese, Nana Mensah and Yvonne Okoro were nominated in the African (Non Nigerian) Best Actress category for their roles in Beast of No Nation, An African City and Rebecca respectively.

 In all, there are 40 awards to be presented in the various categories including Best Album, Best Song, Hottest Single, Gospel Artiste, Indigenous Artist and Alternative Artist. 

The others are Most Promising Act, Best Collabo, Best Music Video and Best New Act.

The NEAs is an annual award ceremony with primary objective of recognising the contributions of Nigerian and African Entertainers. 

The award ceremony, in its 11th year, is not only focused on celebrating Nigerian entertainers but also honouring Nigerians making impact with their works outside the shores of the African continent.
