The event is the brainchild of Anthill Multimedia in collaboration with the Techiman Traditional Council.
Winner of the pageant takes home a 21-inch Colour LED TV, GH¢ 2,000 and products from sponsors.
Besides being an entertainment event, the occasion will also serve as an avenue to call for peaceful elections in the upcoming November elections.
A spokesperson for the organisers of the event, Leo Dynasty Group of Companies, Joel Acheampong, said, “We are pleased to be part of this historic event that will help us maintain our rich Ghanaian Culture which seems to be waning”
“Our objective is to sensitise the citizenry to the main causes of conflict and ways to prevent such occurrence using the beauty pageant, laughter and music as a tool to create this awareness,” he said.
The Apoo Festival, another historic festival, with a unique character and purpose, is celebrated by the chiefs and people of Techiman, Nkoranza and Wenchi. It is usually celebrated in the month of March but extends into the month of April.
“Apoo” is an Akan word which literally means rejection. So the implication of having such a festival is for the rejection of all forms of undesirable happenings including diseases, poverty, calamities and all other illness.
