Who is highest-paid TV host in the world?

The highest-paid TV hosts in the world have been revealed, with the stars of the small screen pocketing hundreds of millions of pounds a year.

The Forbes list is made-up entirely of US daytime presenters, whose sky-high ratings mean their salaries outstrip those of their prime-time counterparts.

We take a look at the top five highest-paid hosts and how they earn their millions.

5: Steve Harvey—$44m (£34.5m)

Harvey presents four game shows on US television. The most popular by far is Family Feud, where two families compete to name the most popular responses to survey questions.

He premiered his show Steve in 2017, which was renewed for a second season after delivering in the ratings.

4:Ryan Seacrest—$74(£58.1m)

Seacrest's salary jumped from $58m (£46m) to $74m (£58m) as he returned as host of American Idol in 2018.

He also co-presents the morning talk show Live With Kelly And Ryan, and is the producer of Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

3: Dr. Phil McGraw—$77.5m (£60.8m)

McGraw is best known for his show Dr. Phil, where he offers advice to guests with personal or family problems.

Despite his name, he is not actually a doctor. He also works as an executive producer on the shows The Doctors, Bull and Daily Mail TV.

2: Ellen DeGeneres—$87.5m (£68.7m)

The past year has been the chat show host's most profitable of her career.

She has presented The Ellen DeGeneres Show since 2003 and also works as a producer on programmes including Little Big Shots and Splitting Up Together.

1: Judy Sheindlin—$147m (£115.4m)

Known for hosting the daytime TV show Judge Judy, the 76-year-old has an audience of more than 10 million.

The former Manhattan family court judge has been on the air for more than two decades. She sold the rights to her Judge Judy reruns for an estimated $100m (£78.5m), which tripled her yearly earnings.

Who are the highest paid TV hosts in the UK?

The salaries of Britain's top-earning TV host fail to even come close to those across the Atlantic.

Ant and Dec reportedly made £29.5m in the year leading up to June 2017, while the X-Factor's Dermot O'Leary is said to have annual earnings of £3m.

Match of the Day host, Gary Lineker was revealed to be paid between £1,750,000 and £1,799,999 a year.
