FIESTA channel to pay artistes for music videos
GHANAIAN Music and lifestyle channel, FIESTA will pay artistes whose videos are broadcast on the platform.

Business Manager of the restructured platform, Jay Foley disclosed this in an interview with Showbiz.
According to him, the channel will institute a playlist system to ensure everyone is paid what is rightfully theirs.
“It is a very key area and one of the first and most important things for FIESTA is to try and rally the artistes to give us permission to play their music videos on the channel.
“With issues of royalties, it can be properly paid by the organisations that are in charge of paying royalties,” explained Foley.
“At FIESTA, we are trying to run a playlist system so we can actually track the number of times that we’ve played an artiste’s music video in case they need that information for future purposes.”
Starting August 1, 2018, the channel will offer viewers visual identity changes and the best in music videos, celebrity gossip, entertainment and a lot more. FIESTA will air on cable TV platform DStv channel 329.
The channel seeks to empower Ghanaians and other Africans with thought-provoking and creative programming.
The former Live FM Presenter also disclosed that Ghanaian videos and artistes will be prioritised on FIESTA.
“We always will prioritise our Ghanaian artistes so on FIESTA, you will have, let’s say out of every 10 videos that are going to be played, seven of them being Ghanaian music videos and the other percentage given to other African countries.”
Formerly owned by Abraham Ohene Djan of OM Studios, FIESTA was acquired by EIB Network some two years ago to position it to become the leading music and lifestyle channel on the African continent.
The official launch of the channel will be held in Accra on August 22, in Takoradi on September 1 and on September 8 in Kumasi.
