Bola Ray did not have to wait too long to land another job. The former JOY FM evening drive host, who left the station a few weeks ago, is part of a crack core of presenters recruited to run the newly established Accra-based station, Star FM.
News out is that Bola Ray is joining a team that includes William Nanka Bruce, also known as DJ Blow – who also left his position at YFM weeks ago, Dennis Mirpuri, formerly of JOY FM, Pravda Radio, and until recently Power 103.5 FM, which has since morphed into the new station.
It is anticipated that Star FM will start operation in August, in an urban onslaught that is set to turn heads on mainstream radio.
Other big names in the Star FM camp include Nii Ayi Tagoe, Kweku Obeng Adjei, all formerly of Joy FM, as well as Who Wants to be Rich host, Kafui Dey.
The station is owned by former Finance Minister, Kwabena Duffour, whose other business interests include Unibank, The Heritage Newspaper, and Star Assurance .
