Yvonne Okoro's Contract earns 6 nominations
The African Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA Awards, are presented annually to recognize excellence of professionals in the African film industry, including directors, actors, and writers.
The awards are aimed at honouring and promoting excellence in the African movie industry as well as uniting the African continent through arts and culture.
The awards presentation event is usually attended by many international media representatives, Hollywood celebrities, Nigerian politicians, journalists and actresses and actors from all across Africa.
The AMAA awards are widely considered to be Africa's most important film event and many Ghanaian actors and filmakers have in the past been winners. In the last edition held in Lagos in April 20 2, Leila Djansi and Majid Michel won awards.
Yvonne Okoro’s movie, Contract, which features Nigeria’s Joseph Benjamin, South Africa’s Hlomla Dandala, Yvonne Okoro herself and several other talented actors is directed by multiple-award winning director, Shirley Frimpong Manso.
