Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has revealed that staying busy, his Christian faith and not being easily distracted by other women have helped him remain committed to his wife throughout their 57-year marriage.
The actor, who married young, shared the secret behind his long-lasting marriage when he was asked about it at his Legacy Gala in Accra, Ghana.
With his characteristic candour, Edochie said he had never been one to allow other women to interfere with his marriage, attributing part of his ability to remain focused to his faith.
“I married early. I’ve been married for 57 years. It is difficult to keep, and I don’t get distracted easily. And that’s one of the biggest blessings I have,” he said.
The veteran actor, who described himself as a “big Christian”, said his faith had also played an important role in helping him stay committed.
“Women don’t distract me. I’m just being honest with you. It doesn’t mean I’m a wonderful man,” he added.
Edochie also revealed that he spends much of his time at home reading or listening to classical music, leaving little room for distractions.
“Most of the time I’m inside the house, I’m playing classical music, or I’m reading some material. I’m always very busy doing one thing or the other,” he said.
He ended his response with a playful warning: “Don’t ask me that kind of question again.”
