Why Diddy’s release date has been pushed back

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ expected release date has been moved from January 2028 to March 2028, according to records from the US Bureau of Prisons (BOP).

The 56-year-old rapper and music executive is now scheduled to be released from FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey on 2 March 2028, having previously been given a release date of 21 January.

The change comes after reports about Combs’ life in prison raised questions about the conditions under which he is serving his 50-month sentence. NBC News previously reported that people familiar with his incarceration had claimed he had access to services including cooking, cleaning and massages.

Reports also alleged that Combs had used a contraband mobile phone while in prison and had access to alcohol and prescription drugs. The allegations have not been independently verified. His representative has previously rejected the characterisation of Combs’ prison life as unusually privileged, saying he was serving his sentence within the rules while awaiting a decision on his appeal.

Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison following his federal prostitution-related trial.
