Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has demanded a refund from Nigerian airline Air Peace over what she says is the airline’s failure to refund payment for flight tickets booked by her team earlier this year.
In a post on X, the singer, known for her hit song Bedroom Commando, said her team paid for six tickets through the airline’s website in January but did not receive booking confirmation.
With a scheduled performance in Nigeria and time running out, the team was forced to make alternative flight arrangements, she said.
According to Wendy Shay, efforts to secure a refund since then have yielded little result, with the airline allegedly failing to respond to repeated enquiries.
She also questioned the airline’s customer service arrangements in Ghana, expressing concern about its operations in the country without a dedicated customer service centre.
She said attempts to reach the airline had been met with instructions to send emails to its Nigerian office, but the messages had reportedly gone unanswered. (Read NFA launches Cinema Train to boost Ghanaian film industry)
Frustrated by the situation, the singer has given the airline a strong warning to refund the money or face a complaint to the relevant authorities.
“Refund us ASAP or we escalate this matter to the authorities,” she wrote.
See post below:
@flyairpeace We paid for 6 tickets to Nigeria in January on your website didn’t receive booking confirmation. We booked another flight because we were time bound for a show. We have been chasing a refund ever since and every effort by my team to reach you has failed. How can an airline operate here without a costumer service center? Anytime my team Tried to reach out we were asked to send email to Nigeria which you never responded. This is unacceptable. Refund us ASAP or we escalate this matter to the authorities.
