The popular hairstylist who has done hairstyles for high profile musicians including Obrafour, Reggie Rockstone, Samini, Edem, including gospel singer, Joyce Blessing as well Annica Apau, wife of Okyeame Kwame said she has observed the growing interest for locs but was hoping that more Ghanaian women and at large, African women will settle for the hair style and not be a preserve of only musucians.

The stylist who has been a strong advocate for locs since she established her salon in 2018 said locs represent a renewed sense of pride in African physical characteristics and Blackness, which ties in with the belief about keeping things natural.

“Over the years, I have learnt that locs and dreadlocks represented connection with the divine and with the spirit realm, and was often a symbol of strength and integrity for warriors and chiefs.

“As an African, wearing locs gives you a renewed sense of pride and I’m happy about how the style has become fashionable in the last few years,” she said.

Mabel Amable established LocsWorld Ghana with the sole aim of making locs a fashionable hairstyle for the average Ghanaian woman who wants to stand out with her looks.
LocsWorld Ghana are experts in the different types of locs such as Sisterlocs, Microlocs, Traditional Locs, Semi-freeform Locs, Freeform Locs and Florida Wicks.

Her clientele has grown over the years with women from various professional backgrounds visiting her salon for their locs.
