One of Van's notable contributions to dance is his creation of dance styles that originated from the struggles faced by marginalized youth in socially and economically deprived circumstances. Through dance styles like 'base,' Van channeled his frustrations and provided a voice for those who felt forgotten by society. The popularity of these dance styles has spread across Africa, particularly in Ghana, serving as a vehicle through which the creators can express their struggles and emotions.

Dance styles often have deep cultural roots, fostering a better understanding and connection among people from diverse backgrounds. Van Calebs recognizes the power of dance as a means of communication through movement. His dance style enables him to transmit powerful messages, tell stories, and express emotions in a universal language that transcends barriers of language and culture.

Van Calebs, the founder of Van Calebs empire and The Walking Stick Foundation, currently holds the position of Volta Regional Coordinator for the Asian African Chamber of Commerce. He has choreographed over 40 pieces, many of which he has performed himself. After leaving Adisadel College, Van established his own school and company, where he codified his unique modern-dance technique. His style combines technical precision with emotional depth, often drawing inspiration from myths and poems.

In addition to his accomplishments as a choreographer and dancer, Van Calebs is recognized for his philanthropic endeavors. He received a grant to travel to France, sponsored by the French ambassador to Ghana, to compete in a choreography dance event. These trips led to numerous accolades and performances that greatly influenced his creation of the dance style known as "Base."
