Stars glitter at Glitz Style Awards
When a galaxy of stars gather under one roof, one should expect nothing but loads of ‘fabulousity’ to keep up; sparkles, style, elegance, glamour, glitz and a good time.

And that was what happened when the Movenpick Hotel in Accra played host to the second edition of the Glitz Style Awards last Saturday.
Patrons set out to make varied fashion statements and they indeed succeeded to define the awards scheme which celebrates individuals setting trends and defying the odds with their fashion sense.
The well attended glamour event was graced by many leading figures and icons in the fashion, creative arts and entertainment industry from Ghana and Nigeria.
Among the high personalities who graced the occasion were former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Dr Joyce Aryee of Light and Salt Ministries, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts among others.
It was a “big” night for Radio and TV personality, Berla Mundi when she took home two awards—Most Stylish Radio Personality and Most Stylish Personality. She beat a strong contender, KOD to clinch the Most Stylish Radio Personality award.
Other winners on the night were Kelvin Vincent; Stylist of the Year award, Gilbert Asante; Fashion Photographer of the Year and Victoria Michaels; Model of the Year.
Hiphop artiste, M.anifest beat the likes of Adom FM’s Akumaa Mama Zimbi to pick the Best Individual Style award, House of Paon; Emerging Designer of the Year, Afua Rida; Fashion Blog of the Year and Nathaniel Anokye Adisi aka Bola Ray beat Gifty Bingley of Tigo to clinch the Most Stylish Business Executive.
Zynnell Zuh was awarded the Most Stylish Movie Star while the Most Stylish Music Star Award went to Efya and Best Dressed Celebrity on the Red Carpet Award went to Nana Akua Addo.
Other award winners were Shalom Clothing for the Designer of the Year Award and Sima Brew picked the Best Red Carpet Designer.
Dr. Joyce Aryee was honoured with the Star Icon Award for her consistency in style.
“There’s elegance in simplicity and that has been my style all these years. You must be confident in what you wear as well,” Dr Aryee said in her acceptance speech.
Though the event started around 10:30 pm, more than two hours after the advertised time, the Glitz Style Awards went smoothly devoid of any technical hitches.
The awards event was laced with music performances from Kidi, Adina, MzVee and Nigerian female artiste, Waje.
According to Claudia Lumor, CEO of Glitz Magazine, organisers of the event, the awards scheme is an opportunity for the fashion industry to celebrate and promote the extraordinary creative talents in Ghana and Africa as a whole.
“The purpose of the awards is to strengthen the growing Ghana fashion industry through development, promotion and setting international industry standards,” she stated.
