GOOD news, Omaha Fashion Week returned in February this year. Another good news is that, Smully Wear made history as the first Ghanaian fashion brand to grace ITS platform.
This year’s Omaha Fashion Week hosted in Nebreska, USA, was held from Tuesday, February 23-29 ending with a lively show with featured designers from across the world where Smully Wear exhibited Good Vibes, a collection released in Ghana in October last year.
Good Vibes is a range of clothes made up of corporate wear, suits, urban wear, stage performance and red carpets outfits, caftans, 3-piece agbada, political suits, African print shirts, shorts, unisex print pants, formal wears among others.
Speaking with Graphic Showbiz about the new experience, Joseph Aggrey Cobbinah, CEO of Smully Wear mentioned he was excited to live his dream of taking Ghanaian fashion to a new level with international endorsements.
“It is a privilege and honour to be on this platform in the United States of America. After running Omaha Fashion Week for 15 good years, Smully Wear happens to be the first Ghanaian fashion brand to be on that platform.
“We were able to tell the African fashion story and the feedback and compliments have been substantial”, he said.
“Smully Wear is connecting the world through fashion so everyone should just anticipate and be on the lookout for amazing designs and craftsmanship from us featuring for all seasons— Fall, Spring and Summer”, he said.
Smully Wear is a bespoke Ghanaian fashion brand founded in 2014. Smully’s creative works have earned him a lot of recognition including styling showbiz icons such as Jidenna, Boris Kodjoe, Stonebwoy among others.
In 2017, he won the Fashion Designer of the Year at the Ghana Tertiary Awards with his maiden collection, Jack Where are You.
Cobbinah is positive the latest Good Vibes collection will equally give good fashion vibes to patrons.
Omaha Fashion Week started in 2008 with 12 designers, 20 models and 2,000 attendees and has grown to become the fourth largest organised fashion week event in the USA.
This year, the event celebrated 15 years of runway showcases during the De Ponte Spring 2023 on the theme, Magis, which is “for the greater good.”
