Phred Nuamah readies for NDC parliamentary race
CEO of Ghana Movie Awards and entrepreneur, Phred Nuamah is seeking to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency on the ticket of National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Even though details about his contest is scanty, Phred, who is also a movie producer has been promoting fliers on his social media pages to perhaps rally support.

The NDC has announced May 13, 2023, for both presidential and parliamentary primaries.
Should he win the party’s parliamentary elections, Phred will succeed his friend and colleague, John Dumelo who contested against the New Patriotic Party’s Lydia Seyram Alhassan in the 2020 general elections.
Phred Nuamah is a film director and producer best known for his roles in the movies ‘The Game’, ‘The Prince Bride’, ‘Amakye and Dede’, ‘Heart of Men’, ‘4Play’ among many others. He is, however more recognised as the founder of Ghana Movie Awards.
Last year, when the much anticipated yet criticised event on the Ghanaian entertainment calendar, Ghana Movies Awards (GMA) didn’t come off in December as usual, and there was no word from organisers, many were those who believed it had eventually died.

In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, he disclosed that the awards ceremony was on course and had been rescheduled for Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
“It didn’t come off last year because of the World Cup, knowing that the tournament was going to take the euphoria from the main events in December including the awards, we decided to push it to March.
“So last year’s event, which is the 13th edition, will be held on March 25, 2023, at the AICC. It will be spectacular because there will be something very different on the Red Carpet”, he is quoted to have said in the interview.
