The Nollywood–Africa in Diaspora Film & Food Festival and Awards (NADFFA) has been officially launched in Accra, with organisers seeking to use the platform to promote African cinema, cuisine, culture and tourism while creating stronger links between Ghana, Nigeria and the African diaspora.
The Corporate and Media Launch was held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre in Cantonments, Accra, under the theme, “Uniting Cultures. Celebrating Excellence”.
The event brought together personalities from Ghana’s and Nigeria’s entertainment industries, including actors, filmmakers, media personalities and other creative industry players. Guests were also treated to performances by singer Sherifa Gunu and performer Jennie Karina.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer, Head of Diaspora Affairs and Brand Ambassador of NADFFA, Ramatu Gumah, described the initiative as more than a film festival, saying it was designed to promote African creativity and strengthen cultural and business connections across the continent and the diaspora.
“Today is more than just a launch. It is a declaration that Africa is ready to own its narrative, showcase its cuisine, tell its stories, and present its excellence to the world,” she said.
She explained that the festival would focus on five key areas: African cinema, cuisine, culture, tourism and creative excellence.
“We are going beyond entertainment. We are building an ecosystem where film meets finance, where food meets tourism, and where culture meets commerce,” she added.
The festival is scheduled for March 12 and 13, 2027, at the forecourt of the State House in Accra, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Activities will include African cuisine exhibitions, film screenings, masterclasses, cultural performances, fashion showcases, tourism exhibitions and business-to-business networking sessions aimed at connecting creative professionals and businesses from Ghana, Nigeria and the African diaspora.
The programme will conclude with a Grand Finale and Awards Night on March 14, 2027, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra, from 7 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
Ramatu Gumah said the festival would provide opportunities for filmmakers, food entrepreneurs, tourism operators, fashion designers and other creative industry players to showcase their work, build partnerships and explore new markets.
She urged corporate organisations, businesses and individuals to support the initiative through sponsorships and strategic partnerships. “We are not simply inviting you to sponsor a festival. We are inviting you to invest in a vision, support an industry, and become part of a movement that celebrates Africa’s potential,” she stated.
She also called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria’s film industries, as well as the wider African film community. “Let us strengthen the connection between Nollywood and Ghana’s film industry, including the wider African film community,” she appealed.
