Nandom Films, a Koforidua movie production is set to release its latest movie, Country Girls on Boxing Day, December 26.
The movie, which will be premiered at the Bed Time Hotel in Koforidua features new faces—Gifty Takyiwaa Adjoa, Eunice Kwakye, and Victoria Ahiati.
Like some young ladies who love to find an easy route to wealth, three young ladies leave their village to seek greener pastures in the city. They however enter into prostitution to make ends meet in the city.
Their new ‘profession’ later breeds confusion, hatred and disagreements among the three friends as each finds her own means to make more “clients”.
In an interview with Showbiz, Nana Kwame Bewafa Francis Jnr, who is both the director and executive producer of the movie said the movie is to raise many important issues that has been ignored by the society such as poverty and its consequences on the youth.
For him, many young ladies who indulge in prostitution are unwilling partners forced into it because of poverty.
“The movie isn’t to praise and encourage people who indulge in such activities but to draw the society’s attention to the negative consequences some of these vices pose to the development of the society.
“The plot gives the viewer the independent choice of taking their stance on such practices,” he said.
Nana Kwame Bewafa who is also the Public Relations Officer of the Film Directors Guild of Ghana, Eastern Region expressed his concern about the falling standards of the Ghanaian movie industry which he attributed to lack of investment.
“Apart from Accra and Kumasi which produce movies, the other regions are virtually inactive when it comes to movie production. That, I believe isn’t good for the collective growth of the industry,” he stated
