It seems singer Nana Yaa did not mince words when she said she is back for good when she ‘resurfaced’ after taking a long break with her single, E Go Be, last year.
The songstress, who has worked with great artistes such as Kojo Antwi, Sonnie Badu, Osibisa, Rex Omar, Okyeame Kwame and Tagoe Sisters, dropped another single, Handkerchief, featuring Samini, two weeks ago.
Handkerchief, a love song recorded by Kwame Yeboah of ObY band, is about long distance relationships. On the 3:21 minutes song, Nana Yaa sings about the difficulties women have to go through with their husbands overseas.
A reflection of her own life, Nana Yaa, whose husband lives abroad entreats married men to send handkerchiefs to their wives to wipe their faces whenever they shed tears when they miss their presence.
Samini comes in to describe a faithful woman who does not cheat on her husband although they live miles apart. Samini defines the woman as every man’s dream because she is the type who can adapt to difficult situations.
Nana Yaa deviates from E Go Be which is a slow paced song to a mid tempo vein wit Handkerchief.
According to her, “I took a different style this time around because I want my fans to jam to the new song”, she said in an interview with Showbiz.
She said she decided to do a song about long distance relationships because it is a difficult situation.
“I have been there so I know what I am talking about. It takes very few women to stay chaste in such situations,” she stated.
The mother of two said this year is going to be very busy for her because she has plans of working with some of the great artistes in Ghana and beyond.
Nana Yaa who is contesting the Female Vocalist of the Year award at this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Music Awards (VGMA) slated for May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), asked her fans to vote for her to emerge winner of the category.
