Nana Yaa: I will win female vocalist award in God’s time

There can be no denying that Nana Yaa is one of the best female vocalists in the music industry and that is why for some people, it is surprising that she has not won any awards for that strong voice she has.

Nana Yaa, who wowed the nation as a youngster with her voice, has been twice nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in 2017 and this year but she has missed out with Afro Pop act, Adina, winning it both times.

However, the petite singer, who has worked with the likes of Jon k, Kojo Antwi, Sonnie Badu, Osibisa, Rex Omar, Okyeame Kwame, Becca among others says she’s not worried about that.

Speaking on Zylofon FM’s Showbiz Agenda hosted by Sammy Flex on Monday, the Ego Be singer said she will win the award in God’s own appointed time.

“I have been nominated twice in the Female Vocalist of the Year category at the VGMAs.

However, I haven’t won any of the awards for which I was nominated and the problem is not from my side.

I believe in God’s timing, at God’s own appointed time, I would win,” she said.

As a daughter of two of Ghana’s music greats, Pat Thomas and Lola Everette, Nana Yaa, popularly known as Manye One, was tipped to take after her parents and take the music industry by storm.

Although it has not gone so smoothly, things have picked up considerably since her return to the commercial scene in 2015 after childbirth.

Her songs such as E Go Be, Lon Lon, Handkerchief, Kyere Me, and Nesirie have endeared her to music lovers.
