Emerging artiste Ybb Ceejay says he wants to show listeners a lighter, more confident side of his music, demonstrating that meaningful songs do not always have to draw on pain and deep emotions.
On his latest single, Too Dizzy (Aura), release last month, the rapper and singer explores confidence, melody and energy while maintaining his musical identity.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Ceejay said that although his music sometimes explores struggles and deep emotions, he also wants listeners to enjoy songs that offer a different experience.
“Sometimes, people can get caught up in the struggles, the emotions and the deeper messages in my music, but I also want people to experience me in a way that feels lighter, smoother and more effortless,” he said.
He explained that the song is about confidence and the presence a person carries without feeling the need to prove anything to others.
“To me, aura is something you carry; it’s not something you have to announce or force people to see,” he added.
Ceejay said he wanted to explore his hip-hop roots while introducing a sound that could appeal to a wider audience.
He said the song was designed to connect with listeners through its sound and mood as much as its lyrics, allowing them to enjoy the music while still recognising his identity as an artiste.
“You can play it, catch a vibe and enjoy yourself, but there’s still an identity behind the music,” he stated.
For Ceejay, the release also reflects his growth as a musician. He believes artistes can tell meaningful stories without always drawing on painful experiences or intense emotions.
“Sometimes, the confidence, the energy and the feeling speak for themselves,” he said.
He hopes the song will encourage listeners to feel good about themselves while introducing his music to a new audience.
“I want people to listen to Too Dizzy and feel good about themselves. I want them to find their own aura in the record. And if the song makes somebody discover Ybb Ceejay for the first time, then that’s even better,” he said.
