MUSIGA woos corporate Ghana

Music is a key element in show business and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) showed how serious it is with the business aspect when it last Friday, September 5 managed to pull about  73 corporate bodies to its second Grand Ball at the State House in Accra.

 Among the companies present were Jislah Financial Services, Phoenix Insurance, Ideal Finance, IPAS, Asona Mining, Charterhouse, Kasapreko, Eurostar Limousines, Free Zones Board, Aqua Safari, Erata Motors, Alisa Hotel, Sasso and Finatrade.

Others were Liberty Capital Group, Liberty Mutual Health,  Despite Group, Mobile Content Ltd, Allied Oil, Royal Bank, KPMG,Ghana Chamber of Commerce, Forestry Commission, UT Bank, Stanbic Bank and others.   

The four main sponsors of the Grand Ball: Tigo, Huawei, Johnnie Walker and Midland Savings & Loans expressed satisfaction with their association with what has become MUSIGA’s flagship event. 

Tigo’s delegation was led by the  General Manager, Roshi Motman and it included Jesse Agyepong, Head of Marketing and Stephen Essien, Head of Customer Operation.

Apart from its sponsorship, Tigo gave away modems, mobile devices and airtime.

Nick Cook, Commercial Director at  Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited (GGBL), official representatives for Johnnie Walker products here,  said the Grand Ball gave them access to the right target for some of the  Johnnie Walker premium brands.

“Courtesy of Grand Ball, we were able to reach that person who expects more than just an experience,” he stated.

There were lots of  Johnnie Walker giveaways at the function. A bottle of  Blue label auctioned at the Grand Ball was bought by Mr Osei Kwame Despite.

MUSIGA’s  highest honours, termed the Music Industry Pillar Awards, were bestowed on media conglomerate, Mr Osei Kwame Despite; former First Lady, Mrs Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and the Midland Savings and Loans Limited.

They were honoured for their  immense contributions in various capacities, to the development of arts and entertainment business in this country, especially to the music sector.

Part of the citation for Mrs Rawlings said in addition to her general support for the creative arts sector, she was highly instrumental in the allocation of the current MUSIGA headquarters to the union. 

The citation to Mr Osei Kwame Despite indicated that even before his foray into the media business, he had established himself as a leading producer and distributor of Ghanaian music who  worked with a tall list of Ghanaian artistes. 

 The Managing Director of Midland Savings & Loans, Mr. Michael Adjouvu, was  happy his company was appreciated for what they are doing for the music business. 

He said they saw a good opportunity of reaching a niche target market at  the Grand Ball.

Huawei’s Chaoyiyani thanked MUSIGA for the chance to be part of the Grand Ball which was was produced by Showbiz Africa for MUSIGA.
