The upcoming forum which will be held at the MultiChoice Ghana head office in Accra and themed, Future of Ghana Movie Industry, Bright or Bleak will see stakeholders in Ghana’s movie industry deliberate on important issues about the sector and the way forward.

Key speakers/ Panelists for the forum are George Bosompim, a lecturer at National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) and Public Relations Officer of The Ghana Academy of Film and Television Arts (GAFTA), Peter Sedufia, a film director and CEO of Oldfilms Productions.

The others are Ivan Quashigah, Film Producer and CEO of Farm House Productions, Actor Prince David Osei and Afua Kissi-Nyame, Head of Marketing, MultiChoice Ghana.

The event will be moderated by Media and Communications Consultant, Francis Doku.

Already, the guest speakers are positive about the upcoming forum which will afford them the chance to make relevant contributions to the sector.

According to Peter Sedufia, he is hopeful the forum will set the agenda for the enactment of good and right policies that will push the fortunes of the sector.

George Bosompim who shares same views as Mr Sedufia told Graphic Showbiz he is certain the forum will provide the platform to educate filmmakers about government policies as well as role of creatives in the movie industry.

Ivan Quashigah mentioned that he hopes the dialogue and subsequent publications thereafter, will encourage policymakers to appreciate the potentials of the film industry and support the sector to take its rightful place as a source of meaningful employment for the teeming youth.

On his part, actor Prince David Osei stated, “One aspect that I would particularly emphasise at the forum is the importance of discipline in the pursuit of consistent and long-term success in the industry.

“I am excited about the prospect of exchanging ideas, learning from others, and contributing to the growth and development of the acting community,” he said.

According to the Editor of Graphic Showbiz, Ms Adwoa Serwaa Bonsu, film is a powerful medium that evokes emotions, shapes ideas and potentially affects attitudes and behaviour.

“So whether our film industry here blooms or withers should be of concern to us all. That’s why through our forum we are bringing together a knowledgeable panel who understand the elements of filmmaking to figure out the current direction of our movie sector.

The upcoming forum is the third organised by Graphic Showbiz after the maiden event in 2020 themed, Moving From Promises To Action, A Discussion Of Party Manifestos On the Creative Industry.

The second edition on the theme, Maximising The Benefits of Digitisation In The COVID -19 Era came off in 2021.

In 2021, a wholly-Ghanaian channel Akwaaba Magic was launched on the DStv platform by Mulitchoice Ghana rekindling the creative industry in Ghana.

The initiative is an indication of the company’s guarantee to the growth of Ghana’s movie industry and the Graphic Showbiz Forum falls in line with the agenda as partners.
