In its first edition, the annual Legacy and Legacy Ball  organised by Imajin Advertising to honour legends in the music industry, chose Lumba as the first artiste to headline the show and as was largely expected, the event earned massive patronage.

Following the huge success of the show, the CEO of Paul Gee Productions, Paul Adjei  met with Daddy Lumba and his supposed “middleman”, Roman Father, to discuss  terms towards the purchase of the event video for distribution.

It was at the meeting that both parties, in a verbal agreement arrived at a figure of Gh¢ 80,000 as the cost of the video to Paul Gee. Subsequently, Paul Gee paid a deposit of  GhC 40,000 to Lumba but two years on, Lumba is yet to produce the video. Not even the involvement of the police has pushed him to honour his part of the agreement.

Speaking  to Showbiz  last Monday, Paul Adjei said that soon after taking the money, Lumba began offering a different twists to their  initial agreement and currently, Lumba’s two telephone lines by which they used to communicate have been disabled. “Now I dont have any means to reach him”, Paul said.

“When I contacted Lumba’s “middleman” Roman Father, he promised that he would facilitate a refund of my money but after waiting for some time I suspected that the two were not willing to pay me my money”. Paul said instead of the refund he was rather offered a different deal to buy the video of a Lumba show in Kumasi which he declined.

Paul said that sometime last year, he had information that Lumba would be coming to Kumasi for the launch of Confidence’s new Aphrodisiac club  in Kumasi. When he finally met Lumba in the club, his attempts to initiate talks with Lumba resulted in a scuffle that led to both of them being sacked from the venue.

Now, Paul has lodged a complaint with the Police in Kumasi and says that if things don’t work out as expected, he would have no option than to send the case to court for settlement.

When Showbiz contacted Detective Edmund Mensah Ayettey, the officer in charge of the case, he said that Lumba made a promise to pay up the money when he was initially contacted  but for some time now his lines have been off and all attempts by the Police in Accra to reach him have failed.

When Roman Father was contacted, he told Showbiz that the claim by Paul  is a plot to tarnish Daddy Lumba’s image since they have agreed to pay the money to him. “I want to tell Paul Gee that, he will get his money soon even though the refund has taken a longer time than expected” he added.
