You may not regard him as a ladies man on seeing him for the first time but Kumasi-based actor, Yaw Adu, aka Sunsum, says ladies cannot stop admiring and chasing after him because of his fine looks.
“A lot of ladies ask for my number anytime I step out. Others even go to the extent of saying they want to date me because I look very cool,” Sunsum told Showbiz in a recent interview.
According to Sunsum, who is known for roles in movies such as Bosom Ba, Hansome Paddies, Good Morning, Ogya Sunsum, Abré Ne Bayie, Judge Akasa, Pastor’s Wife, Abusua Mpé and Sunsum, women are dying for him because of his attractive looks and caring nature.
“I’m tall, I have a nice muscular body and big sexy eyes. I believe these are the things pulling the women in my direction,” he said.
The problem apparently facing Sunsum now is whether the women are after his fame or are in for real love.
“I cannot tell what the women want from me. A lot of them express interest daily. I don’t even know how some of them got my telephone number to send me messages expressing interest,” he added.
Sunsum disagrees with anyone who says he is not handsome because he believes he is.
“I was not handsome sometime ago because I did not have money. I, however, have money now and that’s why my looks have changed. The way I dress, the kind of perfume I use and the car I drive now probably gets women attracted to me.”
The young actor, who claims he is currently dating a very beautiful lady, revealed that he had broken the hearts of many of his female fans who were hoping to strike close relationships with him.
Asked why he often plays fetish priest roles, Sunsum said that it is because he is excellent in such roles.
“The movie producers are aware of that fact and I believe that is why they always give me such parts to play.”
On how he got into the movies, Sunsum said he had always wanted to be an actor but did not know how to go about it until a friend introduced him to a movie producer.
“I did not disappoint when I had the opportunity to feature in my first movie. I had watched many Akan movies and picked up some useful tidbits so it was not much of a problem when I was given the chance to act. I played the role very well as if I had been acting for a long time.”
After breaking through Akan language movies playing alongside actors such as Emelia Brobbey, Nana Ama McBrown, Agya Koo, Lil Win, Akrobeto and Bill Asamoah, Sunsum is dreaming about the day he would have the chance to work with English language movie actors such as Majid Michel, Jackie Appiah, Yvonne Okoro and John Dumelo.
