When the Undisputed King of Comedy, KSM, announced his show this year, he promised patrons a thrilling performance when he returned as Afia Siriboe on Christmas day but that was not to be as he ended up with an ordinary performance.
Though patrons laughed intermittently during his performance, it could have been better compared to some of the shows he had done in the past.
Graphic Showbiz got back to KSM on his impression about his performance last Friday and this is what he had to say, “That’s the nature of comedy, you can hit or miss. I think I missed this one. All I have to do is lick my wounds and move on.”
He used the opportunity to apologise to his numerous fans and promised to make it up to them with his final retirement stage show, KSM @ 60.
Afia Siriboe came on after the stage had been adequately warmed by the likes of Tin Tin O’Clock, Prince One Day, OB and the Weku Kronkron Band. MC James Brown also gave patrons a good laugh anytime he came on stage to introduce an act.
Afia touched on a variety of issues among which were the current age of digital gossiping where people talk about others right in their presence using their phones.
She took a swipe at Akua Donkor at her ignorance about what a website was. According to Afia Siriboe, when Akua Donkor was being interviewed about her website, she said it was in her bag.
The people of Kumasi had their fair share when Afia Siriboe said Kumasi is a country of its own where they translate from Twi to more Twi.
She also alleged that in Ghana, one has to know somewhere to get somewhere. For instance, if one asked for directions to the National Theatre, he or she will be asked if he knows the British Council Hall even if he was a total stranger.
Another issue Afia Siriboe talked about was the Ghanaian survival instinct which saw males using female names to work abroad.
She also noted that Ghanaians take things very personal and she is taking note of all these as a presidential candidate of the Noko Fio Party.
According to her, Dumsor has become so rampant that when one has light continuously for three days, one becomes worried. Afia also claimed that people were giving testimonies about dumsor in churches.
Afia gave her impression of all the presidents of the fourth Republic saying JJ Rawlings’ era was the bulldozer era while John Agyekum Kuffour was a regal President. You just can’t get Atta-Mills angry because he was a cool dude and John Mahama is the most insulted President.
Afia Siriboe said her Noko Fio Party intends to come back but not in 2016 because the political scene is so crowded and it is going to be either the NDC or NPP who will emerge victorious.
She had a piece of advice for both parties before leaving the stage. To the NDC, her advice is No More Branding and to the the NPP, No More Suspensions.
