Klefe hails new yam with carnival procession

THIS year’s yam festival celebration of the people of Klefe, near Ho, will be climaxed with a grand durbar at Klefe-Achatime on Saturday September 26.

The celebration is on the theme: Harnessing Skills Development of the Youth through Technical Education – The Role of our communities within Government’s Reset Agenda.

As a prelude to the event, the people of Klefe took part in a massive carnival procession on Saturday (September 5) to hail the new yam.

The procession, which started late in the afternoon, from the Galenkui Hill, ended in the various Klefe divisions in the night amid pomp, dancing and drumming.

A key highlight of the celebration is raising funds in aid of development projects at the Klefe Technical Institute (KTI).

The chairman of the festival publicity committee, Delali Kasu said GH 500, 000 was targeted for that purpose.

He said the dignitaries expected to grace the occasion included President John Dramani Mahama; Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, and a Supreme Court Judge, Justice Senyo Dzamefe.

“We are expecting an overwhelming number of Klefe citizens from far and near to take part in the celebration,” said.
