Speaking on the latest episode of Creativitea Live with Lynda podcast, the actress revealed that, unlike many young girls who daydream about marriage, she never did.
She emphasised that even if she were to get married, the scale of the wedding, whether big or small, would not be a priority.
“You know when young girls used to sit down and daydream about getting married, I never did. I used to daydream about working and making my own money and being independent,” Isime said.
“Even if I get married, it would just be a wedding that we both agree on at the same time… If it is a big wedding, if we feel it, it’s fine. If it is a small wedding, whatever we feel.
“I’ve always been that child that always saw myself having my own money. Maybe because I came from a humble background where asking for anything was almost taboo. You’re supposed to know that there is no money, so don’t ask but if we give you, take. I used to be like, ‘I can’t wait to have my own money and do my own thing.”
She concluded, “That’s why I’m such a believer in spending on myself; I spend on myself so much that nobody can take the position of ‘if not me, you won’t have this life.'”
Nancy Isime’s career took off after winning the Miss Valentine International Beauty Pageant in 2009, and she made her acting debut in 2011 with the TV series Echoes.
She has since starred in notable Nollywood films such as Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards, The Set Up 2, and the critically acclaimed Shanty Town.
In addition to her acting career, Isime is also a well-known TV presenter.
Over the years, Isime has earned several awards and recognitions for her contributions to Nigerian entertainment.
