There was a state burial service on Friday where he was laid for public viewing at the forecourt of the State House.

The body was then flown to Obo Kwahu in the Eastern region for the final funeral rites

Nana Ampadu inspired me to do music - J.A. Adofo

While many older musicians such as Rex Omar, Obuoba J.A Adofo, Diana Hopeson, Kojo Antwi, Bessa Simons, Great Ampong, Oheneba Kissi among a host of other creatives were present to pay their last respect, there was virtually no sight of any contemporary artiste.

Recalling how events unfolded especially when he had been hinted by actor David Dontoh on the final funeral rites for the late icon, Sarkodie expressed regret and apologised on his Facebook wall earlier today.

“Ashamed and hurt for not making it to the Legend Nana Ampadu’s funeral. Uncle David Dontoh told me about it last Sunday.

“Crazy how I had it on my mind from then and still missed it but all the same, Rest In Peace Grandpa. May the almighty keep you safe."

Hundreds of mourners thronged both the forecourt of the State and Community Centre in Obo Kwahu to pay their last respects to the late Nana Kwame Ampadu on Friday and Saturday respectively.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Chief of Staff Akosua Frema Osei Opare, former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Clergy and members of the Creative industry were in attendance.

Interestingly, while a number of dignitaries from across the country paid their last respects in honour of the Highlife Legend's immense contribution and influence in music in Ghana and beyond, many young artistes were missing at both events in Accra and in Kwahu.
