Graphic Showbiz’s Jayne Buckman-Owoo honoured at GACAA

She has served in various capacities in the creative industry for about two decades and Graphic Showbiz’s Jayne Buckman-Owoo finally got the recognition due her when she was honoured at the Golden Age Creative Arts Awards (GACAA) which came off at the Alisa Hotel in Accra recently.

Jayne was honoured for Excellence in Leadership in the Creative Arts sector and was given a citation.

A staff writer with Graphic Showbiz where she has worked over 15 years, covering major events and personalities in the creative industry, Jayne is also an actress, starring in a number of movies and a presenter, having hosted Viewers’ Choice on TV Africa.

Speaking with her junior colleague Delali Sika, Jayne said she was grateful to the organisers of GACAA for honouring her.

“I’m really excited about this gesture and it is humbling. It is a great feeling that I am being recognised for my contribution in this sector.

“If after all these years in the media space, someone sees the effort and my contribution in this area and honours me then I’m grateful for it,” she said.

On what the recognition means to her, she said, “It means a lot, this is a step in the right direction and it also tells me that I need to work hard and do more, it is very encouraging.”

Some industry players were also honoured at the event including actor David Dontoh; Ignace Hego of 4Syte TV; radio presenters Ola Michael and Halifax Ansah Addo; politician and musician Bice Kuffour (Obour); former MUSIGA President, Diana Hopeson; actress Grace Omaboe; former Ghana’s Most Beautiful queen, Sally Akua Amoakowaa and Madam Jane Nyame, Executive Director of the National Comission on Culture.

In the competitive categories, Queens Events won Decor Company of the Year Award; CEO of the Year went to Rev. Dr Nana Yaa Owusu Prempeh; Song of the Year went to No Dulling by Keche; Discovery of the Year was won by Gospel musician Jayana; DJ Wallpaper went home with DJ of the Year; Tinash Glam emerged Makeup Artist of the Year; Video Vixen of the Year went to Tilly Hipsy and Youth Personality Support in Creative Arts went to Joana Gyan Cudjoe.

Others were Social Media Photographer of the Year which went to Platinum Images; Kantanka TV’s Abena Kyei Boakye emerged TV Personality of the Year; Morning Show Host of the Year went to TV Africa’s Roslyn Feli; Overall Lead Actress of the Year went to Hailie Sumney and Sandra Boateng emerged Youth Actress of the Year.
