Ghana's film industry needs government support- Multichoice MD

The Managing Director of MultiChioice Ghana, Alex Okyere has added his voice to the call for government to support the film industry.

In an address at the third edition of Graphic Showbiz Forum themed, " Future of Ghana Movie Industry, bright or Bleak?"   today, July 25, Mr Okyere said government can provide the support in the form of  tax incentives, grants, and the creation of an an enabling environment for more investment in the sector.

" There is also the opportunity for educational institutions to design up skilling courses in film production, acting, distribution, promotion and general film studies for current players in the sector," he stated.

He, however, mentioned that it will equally take concerted approach from all stakeholders to help the Ghana movie industry to reach its full potential.

This year's edition of Graphic Showbiz aimed to address how Ghana can be relevant in the trends including demand for content growth, tackle the challenges for a better potentials.

The panellists were Peter Sedufia, film producer/ director and CEO of OldFilm Productions, Actor Prince David Osei, George Bosompim, Ivan Quashigah, Film producer and Afua Kissi-Nyame, Head of Marketing, Multichoice Ghana.
