Ghanaian tour operator wins Africa Travel 100 award

Ghanaian tourism and aviation entrepreneur Mary Nyamekye Asamoah has been honoured at the 2026 Africa Travel 100 Tour Operators Awards held during the 22nd edition of the Akwaaba Travel Market in Nigeria.

Madam Asamoah, Chief Executive Officer of Spotless Travel and Tours and Spotless Aviation and Professional Training Institute, was among tourism professionals from across Africa recognised for their contributions to the continent’s travel and tourism industry.

Her recognition follows years of work spanning aviation, tourism, travel and professional training, with a focus on creating travel opportunities and equipping young people with skills for careers in the sector.

Her interest in aviation and tourism began at an early age and led her to pursue a career in the aviation industry. She started as a cabin crew member with Starbow Airline, gaining experience in aviation, hospitality and customer service.

She later moved into the travel and tourism business, establishing Spotless Travel and Tours to organise trips for individuals and groups across Africa and beyond.

Through the company, she has created opportunities for travellers to explore different destinations and cultures while promoting tourism across the continent.

Her entrepreneurial interests later extended to professional training, leading to the establishment of Spotless Aviation and Professional Training Institute to prepare young people for careers in aviation, hospitality and tourism.

The institute incorporates practical learning into its training, including the use of an aircraft as an office and learning environment to familiarise students with aspects of the aviation industry.

Madam Asamoah’s work in training reflects her commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge, practical skills and confidence needed to pursue opportunities in the sector.

Beyond her current ventures, she hopes to establish and operate her own airline, an ambition informed by her experience in aviation, travel, tourism and professional education.

Her journey from cabin crew member to tourism entrepreneur and aviation trainer highlights her efforts to combine business development with skills training and youth empowerment.

The Akwaaba Travel Market is a major travel and tourism trade event that brings together industry professionals, tourism destinations and businesses to promote partnerships and opportunities within the African travel market.
