Esi won Ghana Most Beautiful season IX

Esi is Ghana’s Most Beautiful

It was all joy and excitement as Central Region’s Esi Abakah Sikafo was crowned Ghana’s Most Beautiful Season IX at the Accra International Conference Centre last Sunday.

Esi had undoubtedly fought a good fight as she won the Most Eloquent Award a number of times while the reality show run on TV3 and when it mattered most on the final night, she gave a good account of herself and answered her questions convincingly.

For coming up tops, Esi took home a brand new four-wheel drive, GH¢10,000 and one year supply of sponsors products.

Maame Akosua Ayiwa Sika of the Ashanti Region was the first runner-up while Eastern Region’s Angela Adwoa Afariwa Dawson emerged second runner up. Melody Fafa Bossman of the Volta Region took the fourth position. They all took home cash prizes and sponsors products.

Perhaps, the night was destined to be an exciting one as the contestants in royal regalia appeared in palanquins through the auditorium. To say they all looked gorgoeus will certainly be an understatement. They were each led by dancers and drummers as they danced and responded to cheers from the charged audience.

They then came on stage to dance to Bisa Kdei’s Mansa dressed in old school kaba and slit with matching shoes and bags. It was obvious that they were having a time of their lives as they moved to the tune of the song accompanied by male dancers.

It was also a night of fashion as the contestants later came on stage in casual wear. It was Afariwa who wowed the three judges David Dontoh, Linda Ampah and Dr Atuahene. They thought her outfit best suited what can aptly be called casual wear.

Once that bit was done, the contestants came back in smart casual and had fair comments from all three judges. There is no doubt that the drama segment was the most exciting as the contestants took turns to thrill the audience with their acting prowess.

They enacted scenes on ‘Indiscipline’, ‘Child Marriage’, ‘Child Trafficking’ and ‘Celebrating Mothers’. Each of them proved that they were good actresses as scene after scene unfolded.

Their intelligence was tested during the Question and Answer segment when they picked questions from an envelope put together by the judges. The night was not only for the four finalists as artiste after artiste thrilled the audience with spectacular performances. Acts on the night included Bisa Kdei, Keche, VVIP, The Ghana Dance Ensemble and Kobi Rana who was supported by the likes of Gunshot and CJ from MTN Hitmaker 4 as well as Akos of Mentor 7.

MC Gideon Aryeequaye ably steered affairs to a successful end. It was a well organised event on the whole except that the commercial breaks  were just too many but they had to pay their bills so that can be pardoned.
