Efe Keyz is confident of winning GMA-USA New Artiste of the Year award
Singer Efe Keyz is vying for New Artiste of the Year award at this year’s Ghana Music Awards-USA(GMA-USA) and her hopes are already set high on grabbing the prize.
She is contesting against Fotocopy, Lasmid, DJ Azonto, Prophet Atara, Malcom Nuna, Abbi Imma and Chief One.
The singer whose real name is Ellen Ayensua Gyapong expressed her delight at the nominations as recognition of her works in the year under review.
She said that she is quite assertive about winning the award and will work hard to secure the needed votes.
“I know I have strong contenders but getting a nod in the category is already a qualification for winning the award so I will put every effort in securing the massive votes to come tops in my category,” she told Graphic Showbiz.
With strong convictions that she’s got what it takes to succeed as a musician, Efe Keyz announced her presence right after graduating from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2017.
She has since released a number of songs such as “This Love”, “Juju, Feelings”, “Video Call”, “Champagne” and “Bad Energy” giving her some attention in the music space.
As such, winning the GMA-USA New Artiste of the Year will shoot up her credentials as a growing artiste.
Organisers of the annual Ghana Music Awards USA announced the nomination list last week with the likes of Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif and “newbies” such as Vanilla, Efe Keyz, Naana Blu getting a spot in various categories.
The ultimate Artiste of the Year category has Black Sherrif, Stonebwoy, Piesie Esther, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Camidoh, and Kidi vying for the coveted prize.
GMA-USA is aimed at celebrating Ghanaian artistes and musicians in Ghana and those based in the diaspora, particularly the USA. They are duly rewarded for their craft in the year under review.
Last year’s marked the fourth edition of GMA-USA which was hosted at the Lincoln Theater in Columbus, Ohio. It was a star-studded event with deserving winners in attendance.
