Dancehall star Vybz Kartel proposes to long-time partner

Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has proposed to his long-time partner, Sidem Öztürk, sharing the emotional news with fans on Instagram. Kartel, who has recently gained freedom after serving time for a murder conviction, made the announcement on Tuesday with a heartfelt video message.

“It’s official… I proposed in prison, but I proposed in real life,” Kartel captioned the post, expressing his deep appreciation for Öztürk’s support during his incarceration. 

In the touching message, he wrote, “You were there when I needed you most, and I’ll never leave you, baby. I cherish every visit, every phone call, and all the moments we spent talking, laughing, and even crying together. You’ve been my rock, my best friend, and my companion. I pray we stay together for as long as I live. I love you, baby.”

The couple’s relationship began in 2015 when Öztürk visited Kartel in prison. Over the years, their bond has endured through challenges, with both sharing publicly their commitment and resilience. Kartel was released from prison in July after his murder conviction was overturned, marking a new chapter in their relationship.

Following his release, the couple launched a YouTube channel, Kiss Me Baby, where they share insights into their daily lives and love story. Fans have celebrated their engagement online, with many commenting on their steadfast devotion through the years.
