Though reggae already has a large following in this country, some of the key exponents of the genre are keen to make it a staple at live venues known for other styles. The +233 gig is therefore an attempt to export some ‘irie’ feel to the popular jazz joint.

Artistes slated for the bill include Fiifi Selah, Jupitar, Root Eye, Knii Lante,  Jahwi, Yasmeen, Episode,  AJLyricx , Mokin. Osagyefo, Iwan, Ras Kuuku, , Red Fyah, Fred Dread, Sammy Nukpese, Nana Fynn, Faffa, Tsidifari, Ras Boomba and Jon  Germain.

“It is a splendid combination of artistes because there are the up-and–coming as well as established ones. Mawuli Nukpese of Roots Anabo fame, for instance, is an inspirational veteran rocker and Jupitar was everyone’s favourite at the recent MTN Pulse Turnup show so I know we have a winsome selection for Saturday,” said Knii Lante of Deluge Entertainment.

The Bighills Band which has proved over the last two years or so to be the group with the tightest reggae grooves in the nation, will back all the artistes.  Emcees for the programme are Empress Lomo, King Lagazee and Root Eye.

The last time reggae was the main fare at +233 was in September last year when world-acclaimed Jamaican acts, Mutabaruka and Tony Rebel, were hosted at the venue.
