Collabo with secular acts not my thing - Kwaku Gyasi
The matter of collaborations between Gospel and secular artistes has become quite a thorny issue for many with opinions divided on whether it is right or wrong.
While Gospel artistes who have collaborated with secular acts have been heavily criticised by some in the fraternity, others do not see it as a big deal but for a Gospel musician such as Kwaku Gyasi, it is a no no.
In a recent interview with Graphic Showbiz, Kwaku Gyasi said though he saw nothing wrong with Gospel artistes collaborating with secular artistes, it was something he would never do.

“Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with it but personally, I don’t like it and will not do it. That is not to say that a Gospel artiste who collaborates with a secular artiste is a devil, not at all,” he said.
Kwaku Gyasi relocated to Canada and has been away for the past eight years. Now he is back and having been away from the industry so long, he shared his thoughts on the music scene.
“Since I came back, I realised that there is a big difference in the work we do and I can say that it is because of COVID-19. Invitations to programmes have reduced drastically even though people are still releasing songs. The pandemic has really slowed things down and it is not funny one bit,” he added.

“The current crop of Gospel artistes is not doing badly, in everything, there is the good and the bad and that was the situation back when we started. I can’t condemn anybody’s work because no one was there when someone was calling on his God.
“I believe if we support each other in every little way that we can, it will go a long way to push the industry forward because there is strength in unity as the saying goes,” he said.
Kwaku Gyasi said he was working on his next album which he would release soon. “I am now back and currently working on my next album which will be my eighth. Hopefully, it should be out towards the end of the year,” he disclosed.
He recently featured on Yaw Sarpong’s latest single titled Aseda Ndwom and he told Graphic Showbiz that it was an honour.
“It was really an honour when my ‘father’ invited me to feature on his song because I was a toddler when he started singing so for him to invite me is a great honour and at the same time a very humbling experience for me,” he said.
Kwaku Gyasi has been in the industry for 18 years and has seven albums to his credit, including Ayeyi Ahy3 M’akoma Ma, Nyame Aseda Ye Bebree, Eb3y3 Yie, among others.
He is married with two children, a girl and a boy. His family is currently in Canada.
He assured his fans that he was back to serve them with the good music he was known for. “COVID-19 is real so let’s take very good care of ourselves and adhere to all the safety protocols. I want all of you to know that I am back and ready to serve you with great music so expect something big from Kwaku Gyasi,” he concluded.
