Clash of the beatmakers at MTN Hitmaker 6

When this year’s music reality show, MTN Hitmaker 6, gets into full swing, the battle will not be among the contestants but also three of the finest beat makers the country has to offer.

The three beat makers—Richie Mensah, CEO of Lynx Entertainment, award winning producer Magnom and new entrant DJ Breezy are set to battle it out to determine which of their artiste emerges victorious.

Richie Mensah, Magnom and DJ Breezy had the gruelling task of listening to tons of demos to shortlist applicants for the semi-finals stage of the contest where contestants get to meet the panel one on one.

Here, each contestant will have an opportunity to perform to a dub version of their original tracks for a slot among the 24 who will proceed to boot camp.

After their skills have been sharpened and tested for, the number will be punned to the final 12 who will enter the competition proper.

Each of the beat makers are to select four out of the 12 finalists and mentor them throughout the competition till a winner is finally selected.

DJ Breezy

The beat makers are responsible for ensuring their charges give off their best and also tasked with aiding them in song selection, production of original songs as well as performances.

Richie has cemented his reputation as a man of many talents. He is an amazing singer; world class beat maker, song writer and an artiste manager.

His management company Lynx Entertainment has churned out some very high profile artistes including Asem, Eazzy and is currently managing BET Award nominee, MzVee.

Just like Richie, Magnom is in his third year as a beatmaker of the MTN Hitmaker reality show. Magnom has produced numerous hit songs since he emerged on the music scene some years ago.

Some of Magnom’s hit singles include Joey B’s U X Me, Hold Me, Tsoobi, among others.

This is the first year of DJ Breezy’s involvement in the music reality show but he comes on board with a wealth of experience and innovation.

He is a DJ, songwriter, mix and audio engineer and has spent over 10 years producing, Djing and currently, records at Black Avenue Musik studios in Accra.

According to organisers, MTN and Charterhouse, by close of nominations at 6pm on Friday, August 11, they had received well over 2500 entries from various wanna be stars with some coming in from as far as Nigeria, Sierra Leone and even the UK.

MTN Hitmaker 6 starts airing on Saturday, August 19 on GhOne and Metro TV at 7pm and 8pm respectively and on Sunday on UTV at 3pm, TV3 at 5pm, 4Syte TV at 6pm and Joy Prime at 8pm.
