Speaking ahead of the event and in the company of the programmes director, the chairman of the CMAG Lawyer Alex K. Osei-Owusu was upbeat that in spite of teething organisational challenges, live classical music performance will soon become the alternative entertainment for its distinctive patrons and audience in the country.

Recalling last year’s event in July 2017 which saw very successful maiden shows in Kumasi and Accra, he indicated that this being the first for the year is on course to be even more successful.

Lawyer Osei-Owusu said that the category of people who attended last year’s performance was heart-warming for the association because, “a good number of the attendees were young people accompanied by their parents. It is important for parents to realize how good music, classical music, can help in the intellectual and emotional development of their children. He added that “The significance of that category of people attending the event was immense, as it signaled the sustainability of classical music in the country.”

Considering the calibre of the artistes billed to perform at the event, Lawyer Osei-Owusu said that patrons of the Easter Sunday show should expect nothing but a rendition of classic Easter Cantata comparable to any stage in the world. He is hopeful that this performance will pique the interest of Ghanaians in classical music, noting further that there is scientific evidence that classical music is effective therapy for life-style diseases and medical conditions as diabetes, hypertension, stress and depression.

Lawyer Osei-Owusu said he was looking forward to the time when people from the sub-region and elsewhere in Africa will come to Ghana to attend classical music festivals.
