Cape Coast hosts artists workshop
About 50 performing and visual artists have attended a day’s workshop at the Centre for National Culture (CNC) in Cape Coast to sharpen their skills.

In an address, the Director, Madam Christiana Carl Oparebea, said the CNC is to help train artists as well as upgrade their skills to meet the ever-moving trends of the performing and visual arts industries across the world.
Madam Oparebea noted that for artists to be successful, they must be capable of meeting current standards in the delivery of goods and services for clients adding that such platforms as the workshop was necessary to help artists to build their capabilities and to share ideas.
The Acting Executive Director of the WEB Du Bois Centre in Accra, Mr Ato Keelson told the participants it was crucial to adopt more innovative ways of satisfying clients changing needs.
He indicated that the artists must develop the creative power to ensure that new ideas were effectively utilised to sustain the industry and to keep it attractive.
He noted that many visual artists have not been able to rely on their art works to make a living because they had not adequately developed their observational and creative skills.
The theme for the workshop was “improving the service delivery of the Artist for Social and Economic Development.”
Mr Fio Richardson Commey who took the film artists through film making said it was important to target making quality movies than producing a lot of low standard movies.

He said it was not necessary to rush to come out with poor quality movies that do not last on the market but rather producers must target coming out with timeless movies that can get them more money.
