Can other ‘nationals’ take part in Miss Ghana?

After a few challenges which prevented the pageant from being held in 2014, the 2015 edition of the oldest beauty pageant in Ghana introduced in 1957 by Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, has been launched with a rather interesting twist to the scheme.

It was made public at the launch that this year’s Miss Ghana pageant is not only opened to Ghanaians but other nationals can partake in it as well.

The other nationals in this sense refers to eligible Ghanaians born by a Ghanaian parent and maybe an Indian, a Lebanese, a British or an American parent.

According to Miss Ghana 2004 and CEO of Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the event, Inna Mariam Patty, the decision to allow other nationals to partake is official and that, the “colour” of a person should not be a hindrance to their nationality as a Ghanaian.
