The family of the astute playwright, author and poet will receive mourners and sympathisers from 10 am to 3 pm at the Memorial Centre till Friday, June 9 each day.

The Ghana Association of Writers and Pan African Writers Association (PAWA) will commiserate with the family on Friday.

In a conversation with the Organising secretary of the Ghana Association of Writers (GAW), Oswald Okaitei, he mentioned that the leadership of GAW and Pan African Writers Association have formally made it known to the family of their preparations to be at Dubois Centre on Friday to commiserate with them.

He noted that the occasion will also afford the leadership of the two organisations the chance to officially inform the family of plans to celebrate the literary luminary by the two associations, which Professor Ama Ata Aidoo was a proud member.

“Prof. Ama Ata Aidoo is larger than just being a writer; she represented more and as such cannot be celebrated in just a day. While preparing for a vigil for her as done for all fallen literary legends, the associations in partnership with the media other relevant organisations in Ghana and beyond, plan to celebrate her success story in several ways,” Okaitei told Graphic Showbiz.

“In the meantime, members of the Association including former members who held leadership roles are encouraged to equally visit and offer condolences to the family,” he noted.

Professor Ama Ata Aidoo was not only a Ghanaian literary powerhouse but served the world with her rich literary knowledge.

Prof. Ama Ata Aidoo until her passing on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 was the Life Chairperson of Ghana Association of Writers annual literary festival called GAWBOFEST.
