Bentum: I’m no chocolate to make everyone happy
Actor turned pastor, Timothy Bentum has disclosed that criticisms from some sections of the public concerning his pastoral activities has no effect on his motivation to continue spreading the word of God.
He mentioned that public criticisms to the effect that he was in the pastorial service for financial gains and also to boost his image were unfounded.
Speaking to Showbiz on Tuesday, Timothy Bentum said opposition was a normal part of ministry and as such he considered it a positive thing, adding that he would have been more concerned had there been no such public criticism.
“I am not chocolate and it’s only chocolate that can make everyone happy. Opposition is a normal part of every process and I would have been bothered if there was none.
“The fact that there is all this opposition is a sign that I am doing something right,” he said.
Timothy Bentum, who heads the Timothy Bentum Ministries (TBM) advised the public to see the hand of God in the lives of celebrities instead of seeing them for who they were before they became converted.
He told Showbiz that his ministry is primarily youth focused because he realises that the youth are more receptive to the word of God and as such are easily reached.
Adding that TBM organises the annual Actors, Presenters, Professionals and Musicians for Christ (APPMC) event, where celebrities gather to try and win souls for Christ.
“Together with friends and fellow celebrities, we have embarked on speaking engagements on radio and some senior high schools because we believe that the youth are the biggest targets of the devil and as such we also have to focus our efforts in that area.
“ We have to concentrate on those who are still maturing and not those who are set in their ways,” he said.
Timothy Bentum added that despite his schedule as a man of God, he has not quit acting.
“I am just picky with the roles I play and that is the reason I have not been in the public eye as I was previously.
“However, there will be a premiere of a movie I acted in, If God Be For Us at the Silverbird Cinema on Friday, November 25 and I just got back from set of another movie,” he said.
