Multiple-Award winning musicians, Becca and Reggie Rockstone, have been announced as judges for this year’s Airtel TRACE Music Star reality show.
Their unveiling was done at the launch of the second edition of the competition on Friday at Plot 7, Nyaniba Estates, Accra.
The reality show is a collaboration between telecommunications company, Airtel Ghana and TRACE, one of the leading music and celebrity platforms in Africa.
Speaking at the launch, Marketing Director of Airtel Ghana, Ms Rosy Fynn, said the Airtel Trace Music Star competition was unique in the sense that it provides the platform for every Ghanaian on Airtel with a passion for music, an opportunity to actualise their dream.
She said the competition was open for every budding musician out there looking for an opportunity to rise to stardom without the hassle of going through unending auditions and nervous stage moments.
“At Airtel, we are big believers in the power of potential. We believe that everyone has an innate ability to fully realise their potential.
“ This is why we remain committed to empowering people through initiatives such as this to unearth possibly the next biggest music star from Ghana and place them on the world stage.
“ Together with TRACE, we are activating this competition in Ghana and across 16 other African countries and it is opened to every Ghanaian on the Airtel Network.
“To enter, all you need to do is to call Airtel short code 533, record your song, submit it and stand the chance of winning a life changing contract with a record label, a mentorship programme with multi-award winning American singer/songwriter, Keri Hilson in Altanta and worldwide media exposure through various TRACE’s platforms.
According to her, once entries are submitted, these are vetted by a team of distinguished judges with a focus on originality, voice quality amongst others.
“ Contestants who make it will be notified and will progress to the next stage of the competition. Finalists will contest in the national finale where the winner walks away with GHC 50,000 prize money and an all-expense paid trip to Lagos for the Pan-African finale,” she said.
