The exercise, a collaboration between Zoomlion Ghana and the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, attracted other international Black Stars players such as Jonathan Mensah; many Kumawood actors such as Agya Koo, Lilwin and Akrobeto; ace musician, Amakye Dede and Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu.

They rid the area of rubbish and weeds and cleared choked gutters.

Addressing the press after the exercise, Asamoah Gyan said the move was another initiative by his foundation, with support from Zoomlion, to whip up public interest in ensuring environmental cleanliness.

He urged the public to refrain from disposing of rubbish indiscriminately and impressed on all to periodically clean their environment to prevent the occurrence of diseases and disasters.

Partnership

Asamoah Gyan said the clean-up exercise would be a regular event of the foundation and Zoomlion and hinted that the exercise would be replicated in other parts of the country.

The Communications Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mr Robert Coleman, said the company received a request from the Asamoah Gyan Foundation to assist it to clean up the area.

He said Zoomlion was helping the Asamoah Gyan Foundation to fine-tune its proposal for the exercise to be replicated in other parts of the country, especially in the various districts, to complement programmes by the assemblies to clean the environment.

Donation

After the clean-up exercise, the stars moved to the Children’s Hospital at Pampaso in Kumasi where they donated two large Samsung flat screen television sets and a decoder. They also painted the entire ward.
