AnimaxFYB studio opens in Accra tomorrow

The 2017 Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) best animation award winner, Francis Y. Brown, is set to officially launch the AnimaxFYB animation studio on Wednesday, January 31 in Accra.

The AnimaxFYB Studio is the only 24-hour full-time running animation studio in the country. It specialises in visual effects as well as 2D and 3D animation.
The launch will be marked with the unveiling of the contents of current productions of the studio through exhibition and other activities.

The animation studio is noted for the production of the famous and award-winning film, Agorkoli. The film has also had numerous global nominations for its exquisite and informative portrayals.

Among them include Best Animation at the African International and Annecy International Animation Film Festivals in 2016, Official Selection of the FESPACO and Indie Film Festivals 2017, and Real Time International Film Festival for Best African Animation Film, 2017.


The studio is currently working on ‘TUTU - the Untold Story of a Kingdom’, a historical 24-minute episodic animation serial about the quest of Osei Tutu to free his people from the bondage of Denkyira.

It is also embarking of the Ronner, Kilo and Kwaata projects which will soon be released on a comic book based on the Agorkoli animated film.

The Launch will be marked by unveiling contents of current productions of the studio. The evening will commence with a drink reception, followed by an exhibition and other activities.

Its historical animation film Agorkoli has won numerous awards and nominations globally including Best Animation at the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) 2016, FESPACO Film Festival(Official Selection)2017,Real Time International Film Festival, Best African Animation Film 2017, Indie Wise Film Festival, Miami(Official Selection) 2017 and Annecy International Animation Film Festival(PARTICIPANT) 2016.

The event will be graced by Madam Marigold Akufo-Addo, the special guest of honor and other industry personalities.
