DUTCH-BORN Ghanaian-Nigerian Afro-pop artiste FADU has adopted Motherly Love Home as one of the causes she will support regularly as part of her commitment to giving back to society.
The artiste made the pledge when she celebrated her birthday with the children of the home, located at Kwabenya ACP in Accra, through a virtual event that allowed fans and well-wishers to join the celebration via livestream.
Rather than host a lavish birthday party, FADU chose to use the occasion to bring joy to the children and support the home’s ongoing development project.
She entertained the children with an acoustic freestyle of Tracy Chapman’s music before performing four of her songs — Feelings, Fly, Turn Me Over and Body, her latest single.
The artiste also engaged the children in conversations and shared refreshments, including juice, biscuits, toffees and water, with them.
The highlight of the celebration, however, was FADU’s donation towards the construction of a new facility for Motherly Love Home at Shai Hills in the Eastern Region.
The donation was received by the founder of the home, Rev. Azumah.
During the livestream, FADU announced that her relationship with the home would extend beyond the birthday celebration, saying she had officially adopted Motherly Love Home as one of the causes she would support on a regular basis.
She also promised to visit the children physically in December to spend quality time with them.
“I want to use my music and my platform to bring joy and hope to children, and to remind them that they are loved and not forgotten,” she said.
Rev. Azumah expressed appreciation to FADU for her generosity and appealed to other benevolent individuals and organisations to support the home as it works towards completing its facility at Shai Hills.
Motherly Love Home caters to vulnerable children and relies on donations to meet their daily needs and support its development projects.
FADU, who is currently promoting Body, one of the songs she performed for the children, is known for combining her music career with philanthropic initiatives aimed at making a positive impact in society.
