12 Celebrities with bizarre pre-fame jobs

They might look like they have the perfect life now, but for some of our celebs, life wasn't always quite so lavish.

After all, we all, have to start some where, but who'd have pegged Johnny Depp as a pen salesman, or Helen Mirren as a theme park promoter? If you have dreams of super stardom but haven't quite made it yet, don't worry, just look at how these celebrities began their climb to the top!

Channing Tatum: Oh Channing, just the mention of his name and we start swooning! Most of you with a crush on the star will be aware of his role as a stripper in Magic Mike and if you're wondering how he played the role so well, it's because prior to hitting the big time he was in fact an actual stripper!

Victoria Beckham: We either see Miss Beckham designing clothes for the runway or looking glamorous on the arm of her football ace husband, David Beckham, but did you know that before starting her pop career with The Spice Girls, Victoria played a sperm on rollerskates for a BBC sex education show? Random!

Kanye West: We hardly ever see the rapper out and about without his white tee on and now we know the reason why.

Before launching his music career, Kanye worked as a sales assistant at Gap, the home of the basic tee!

Michelle Keegan: Before her Corrie career took off, Michelle worked as a check-in assistant at Manchester airport.

With her dashing good looks, we reckon she would have been promoted to an air hostess easy, though!

Rachel McAdams: Most guys might think Rachel bringing them burgers is something that would only happen in their wildest dreams, but think again because The Notebook star actually worked in McDonalds for three whole years! We'll have a cheeseburger meal please Rach, make it a large...

Patrick Dempsey: A heartthrob if ever there was one, but before finding fame, Patrick worked as a juggler. He wasn't just any juggler though. Nope, the Greys Anatomy star was a champion juggler, coming second in the International Jugglers Competition, and the Junior Division in 1982 and 1983.

Whoopi Goldberg: She had contact with ghosts in the movie Ghost, and that wasn't the only contact Goldberg has had with the dead.

Before starting her movie career, the Sister Act star worked as a morgue beautician! Oh, and a bricklayer before that!

Johnny Depp: If we ever had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Depp, we reckon he'd be one of the most fascinating men we'd ever met and no we're not just saying that because we fancy him - OK, maybe just a little bit, but before his rise to stardom he had one of the least fascinating jobs ever - he was a pen salesman!

Helen Mirren: The life of a true British acting icon can start in some rather bizarre places, and none more random than Helen Mirren's.The Oscar-winning actress worked as a promoter for a theme park in Southend-On-Sea in Essex! Could you imagine?

Hugh Jackman: Wolverine wasn't always quite so scary. Before making his debut in the acting world, Hugh worked as a party clown, who charged $50 an hour.

He also worked as a PE teacher in Uppingham, Australia.

Amy Adams: Before starring on the big screen, Amy worked at American chain restaurant, Hooters.

The bar is famed for hiring beautiful women as waitresses, and with a face like Amy's, we can't say we're surprised that she managed to secure a job!

Simon Cowell: He is now one of the biggest music moguls in the industry but that wasn't always the case for hotshot Simon.

The X Factor judge started his career in the post room at EMI record label, and worked his way up to the very top. There's hope for us all!
