Discerning music lovers who need some soothing moments to destress should welcome the Music Ministry Chorale’s(MMC) Singspirational concert scheduled for Friday, September 26, at the British Council Auditorium in Accra.
Mr. Richard Acquah-Harrison, former Senior Advisor, UN Human Settlements Planning Programme, and a co-founder of the MMC, says that many “people living in the capital city find life stressful and nerve-racking and he prescribes a performance by the MMC for relaxation, inspiration, and reflection.
He said the concert which is free “will provide music that is therapeutic and pleasing to the heart, mind and soul”, he added.
MMc’s large repertoire of songs include Ghanaian classics by Ephraim Amu, J. H. K. Nketia, and I.D. Riverson; classical compositions by J.S. Bach, G.F. Handel, and W.A. Mozart; contemporary Ghanaian compositions by Victor Sowa Manieson, Sam Asare-Bediako, and Varrick Armaah; American Negro spirituals and African-American gospel songs.
Recently, when the MMC performed excerpts from the Four Passions by Heinrich Schütz, considered to be one of the great German composers, one patron commented: “The Music Ministry Chorale sang like angels. With very solemn pitches, the performance touched many hearts”.
Another patron had this to say: “I was glad to attend and in fact, the choir did a great job; and I enjoyed the dynamics in volume very much!”
