Samini joins peace campaign train

Many Ghanaian musicians have been preaching peace towards this year’s election and the latest to join the bandwagon is Dancehall artiste Samini who launched his peace campaign at the +233 Bar and Grill last Tuesday.

“Today, the greatest threat to our peace lies in our partisan differences, a growing level of intolerance, a strange spirit of divisiveness seeking to destroy our very peaceful moral fabric in music, politics, governance and homes” Samini told the media at the launch.

According to him, there is no need to run the next person down to gain favours or create needless rivalry which erodes the gains we have made as an industry.

Kofi Kinaata who was present at the launch said peace is a value necessary to be protected by a nation, its people and each one of us.

According to Kinaata, peace is nothing when the society is corrupt and there is no peace when the youth are used as tools to forment trouble, chaos and instability.

To hammer on their readiness for the peace agenda,  Samini  and Kofi Kinaata have done a new song Mama Ghana which was made available to the media at the launch.

On the song, the two musicians ask Ghanaians to vote peacefully on December 7. They plead with anyone who has intentions to cause chaos at this year’s elections to desist from it.

Samini also used the opportunity to announce his Saminifest concert which he said will take place on December 3 at Ghana International Trade Fair Centre, Accra.
