Richard Bona to play at Kojo Antwi show

Lovers of jazz fused with contemporary popular elements will experience the thrill of a lifetime when the great jazz bassist, Richard Bona features at Kojo Antwi’s December 24 concert at the National Theatre.

The Cameroun-born Bona is one of the best bass players in the world at the moment.

He has played with prominent musicians such as Michael Brecker, Chaka Khan, Tito Puente, Bob James, Mike Stern, Larry Coryell, Steve Gadd, Joni Mitchell, Herbie Hancock, Billy Cobham, Queen Latifah,  Bobby McFerrin, David Sandborn,Joe Sample, Chick Corea and George Benson.

Last year, Kojo Antwi’s international guest was the Malian star, Salif Keita. 

“Bona has already  played in Ghana on three occasions and is eagerly looking forward to coming back. He enjoys the response of his fans here to his splendid music and he is happy to be coming again,” said Kojo Antwi  in a chat with Showbiz.

Bona’s latest album is called Bonafied and he brings all the influences he has imbibed over the years to the fore on the collection. 

So fans who make it to the Kojo Antwi show on December 24 should make room for some great fusion stuff incorporating styles such as   jazz, bossa nova, pop, afro-beat, traditional song and funk.
