Quarme Zaggy stands up for highlife
Different issues about life pull at artistes during the composition of their songs but for highlife artiste, Quarme Zaggy, the desire is to encourage men to publicly declare their affections for their partners.

That craving accounted for the release of his new single, My Desire. Currently receiving considerable airplay, the song is a true life story about Quarme Zaggy and he is heard expounding the unique virtues and qualities of the “special woman in his life”.
Recorded by sound engineer, Peeweezle at Ashongman Estate in Accra, My Desire is a highlife piece and Quarme Zaggy does well to employ lyrics that aptly define his mood.
Part of lyrics goes like: “I am prepared to make u the happiest woman on earth by being there for you all the time”.
“I want every man to give his lady the best of care and love.
This song is a personal conviction on how to love your partner rightly and that was why I employed my own life story. It should be used as a love recipe for married couples because it educates them on how to love endlessly,” he told Showbiz last Monday.
“It is a love song which also talks about how men find their future wives. I composed this song solely for weddings because I realised that there was no official song for weddings.”
Prior to My Desire, Quarme Zaggy, real name, Nana Kwame Ampah released his debut 15-track album, Nyankoton, last year.
It revealed him as part of the young generation eager to champion highlife.
Currently managed by Flex Entertainment, Quarme Zaggy is a graduate of Cape Coast Polytechnic.
He has worked with artistes such as Trigmatic, Reggie Zippy and Okyeame Kwame He said he had a soft spot for highlife because he grew up listening to highlife icons like Pat Thomas and Amakye Dede whose influences shaped his talent.
“I believe that highlife is the only genre of music that can take Ghana to the international stage so it requires new talents to ensure its survival” he said.
